How do you use aromatherapy essential oils?

I see them in shops, read them online etc, but I’ve never really understood how to use them. Why must you dilute the oils, and with what?

Also, what sort of burner is the best – ceramic or metal ones?

Anyone expert on aromatherapy, or have step by step guides on them – I have yet to find a comprehensive website that isn’t trying to market their oils. I just need to know how to use them properly.

Thank you!

The essential oils are very potent and to use them neat on your skin could cause damage. The usual dilution is 6 drops of essential oil to 10 mls of carrier oil. Oils have different properties and should be used for different conditions.
I will have a look around for some decent sites and put them in later….;

Which essential oil to use for aromatherapy for my office?

I have a healing practice which has a relaxing and soothing fountain, soothing music and I’d like to add aromatherapy. I just bought a nebulizer for essential oils.

I was thinking lavender oil? Are there any other suggestions?
Btw, how does a blend of jasmine and lavender work together?

What is a good company to purchase pure essential oils for aromatherapy?

I want to get into aromatherapy, but do not know what company I can trust to purchase pure essential oils from. I want real quality oils at a inexpensive price if possible. Also, what are good starter oils and what tools do I need? Any input would be very helpful! Thanks!

Wyndmere Natuturals is a good reputable company to buy from. They have individual oils and synergistic blends for different issues.

Does anyone know where to get a starter aromatherapy kit?

I was wanting to get a simple aromatherapy kit for a decent price. Just little samples of oils work with instructions on use. I really want to use herbal remedies because they are natural and smell good. Thank you ahead of time, I really appreciate it.

What is the brand for Aromatherapy oils?

I buy aromatherapy oils and have bought lots of different brands in the past but they do differ and was wondering which ones you can recommend.

Thanks.
I have used absolute, neals yard and found a good oil from julia lawless. I do aromatherapy massage and get through lot of bottles and always on the look out for good quality oils.

Young Living is the most pure essential oils out there, I highly reccomend them. Everything else is either not distilled in the correct way, not as pure as they say, or aren’t the best variety of plant used. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there are some decent brands out there but Young Living is top of the line. They’re 100% therapuetic grade and they don’t get any better than this. If you would like more details let me know or just visit their website – www.youngliving.com.au

Using Essential oil in your Sensual Massage

Essential oils come from the extracts of plants and flowers. Throughout history,
essential oils have been used for their therapeutic effects and healing
properties. From the ancient Egyptians and the wise men of the Bible (remember
the frankincense and myrrh) to modern day uses like Ben Gay and mouthwash,
essential oils are natures own healing elements.
The most common ways of using essential oils are aromatherapy and massage.
Both of these methods create a romantic setting for your sensual massage. Not
only are the aromatic scents inhaled, but the oils are absorbed through the
skin. These oil can be calming and relaxing or they can stimulate and even
enhance romantic moments. The smell of a rose is not just pleasant, but it
actually triggers receptors in the brain that stimulate desire.
Using essential oils in your sensual massage is simple. When preparing the
room a simple vaporizer will gently fill the room with the desired scents and
when mixed with you massage oil the luxurious effects will bring immense
pleasure. Of course there are thousands of essential oils available, but one of
the fun things about using them is finding the scents and blends that you and
your partner enjoy.

To select the right oil for you there are a few tips to keep in mind.

1. Choose an oil that is right for the occasion. – If you aim is to relax
make sure you are not using an oil know for its stimulating effect such as lemon
or grapefruit.

2. Use a good carrier oil. – This is one of the best reasons for selecting
professional grade massage oils rather than food grade oils. While almond oil
feels and smells great, if you are going to be blending it with a incompatible
essential oil you wont get the effects you desire. For example, I love to use
lavender, it is very relaxing and will almost instantly get rid of a tension
headache, but it dose not mix well with almond oil.

3. Make sure you buy only real essential oil. – Many of the more expensive
oils are diluted or “cut” with low quality oils or additives. You will not get
the benefits of the essential oil if you try to get it cheap. There is no such
thing as inexpensive rose oil. It takes about 440 lbs of rose petals to make 2
pints of essential oil. Of course there are other oils that cost less, but don’t
think you are getting a deal if you find an unusually low price for an oil.

4. Before using an oil check for allergies. – Essential oils are highly
concentrated plant essences. If you are going to have a reaction, it is better
to learn with a drop on your wrist, than after you have had it rubbed all over
your body.

5. Don’t use too much essential oil. – A little will go a long way. Start
with a 2% solution. That is 5 drops in a tablespoon of oil. For a full body
sensual massage, 10 drops of essential oil in 2 Tablespoons should do the trick.
As you experiment with your essential oils you will soon learn what you and your
partner like.

Here is a list of some of the more common essential oils used in sensual
massage and is a great place to start.

Jasmine- An uplifting as stimulating scent believed to be an
aphrodisiac.

Lavender – A calming sweet scent that is sure to relax.

Neroli – A Sweet rich floral scent That is soothing and
relaxing.

Rose – An intense rich scent. While somewhat expensive this is the
scent of love for many.

Sandalwood – A sweet calming scent that is wonderful in blends to
add a woody touch.

Ylang Ylang – A very strong and long lasting floral scent know for
its helpful effects in stimulation the libido.
